Society
It can get so tiring having to listen to people tell you how they think you should act, or who they think we should be. Molding us into a version that they believe is picture perfect. It doesn’t take a lot to look up at the world around us and notice the stereotypes created, and how every minute someone is observing you to see where you fit in on the scale. It’s annoying, offensive, and unrealistic to assume that everything about a person can be summed up into one stereotype. If you take one thing away from listening to this song, let it be that you don’t have to fit into society’s ways. Do you, stand out, be the outcast; just please DO NOT let the opinionated assholes win!
“Chin up
Now lean back
Don’t you dare act like that
Follow my tracks and you’ll get past
Do as I say, not as I do
These are the things we expect of you
But doesn’t it get tiring
Having to listen to society
Tell you who you should be
And how you should act
What you should do for your career path
Will we ever get past this
Stereotypical distance
Thinking that we can’t be different
Well let me tell you we’re over it
So do what you want
And act how you please
Go around being crazy
And never let anybody tell you that you’re not unique
Cause you’re perfect to me
Yes you’re doing amazing
And you’re very unique
Be who you aspire to be, and forget about society
Will we ever get past this
Stereotypical distance
Thinking that we can’t be different
Well let me tell you we’re over it
We’re not the same
We have different brains
Don’t compare us to your games
We’re not puppets on a string
You’re not helping me
Just save your energy
Let us be free
All we want is to break free
Let us fight this society”
