Pretty Paintings

This song came to be born from staring at a painting for an hour straight, believe it or not. Sitting there looking into this picture-perfect scenery; no people , just lights, sidewalks, buildings, and a bench. It looked so peaceful, and all I could think in that moment was how awesome it would be to set yourself into a make believe world where you don’t have to worry about any other people. Just yourself. Now obviously you can’t actually jump into a painting, so when you fall and you get hurt, the best thing to do is get up and keep walking forward.

“I wish so much I could be

In all these pretty paintings

No one around it's only me

Admiring the scenery

Left alone I'd be in peace

With the flowers and the trees

Building a sanctuary

Where I’d feel free

Sometimes you think

You’d do better on your own

Given the chance

Would you take a different road

I know if it were me

I’d jump into the nearest pretty painting

Hoping somewhere

I’d find my sanctuary

In paintings you see

Perfect little families and built up structures

In paintings you see

Gorgeous skies and glistening seas

A place where you want to be

Yet you haven’t found the key

So follow me darling

No amount of company could ever be enough for me

Why do I feel so lost at sea

So afraid of everything

Yet wanting to be apart of anything

Its so strange feeling nothing

In paintings you see

Perfect little families and built up structures

In paintings you see

Gorgeous skies and glistening seas

A place where you want to be

Yet you haven’t found the key

So follow me darling

In a world so big you will feel small

Its just a given you’ll go through it all

Even when you fall you must stand tall

Show them all your true call

Days get rough

And you feel like you’re not enough

Time will pass you slow

You feel like you’re starting to let yourself go

What’s the rush

Let the paintings keep you in touch

Or look to me

I’ll lend you a helping hand darling”
